Climate Ready presents La meva energia and the climate vulnerability map at the Smart City Expo World Congress

3 min

Several sessions of the Smart City Expo World Congress, hosted by Fira de Barcelona from 4 to 6 November, highlighted the tools created by the Climate Ready project.

The Smart City Expo World Congress is a leading event in the field of urban innovation. It has provided a valuable platform for exchange and learning, helping the Climate Ready Barcelona project address the challenges and opportunities associated with replicating the tools developed within its framework.

Especially enriching was the exchange with other projects funded by ICLEI Europe: Sun4All, Data2resilience, Catch4D, EnergyPortal, Dryads and Mobiliar, where messages and strategies could be fine-tuned to address different audiences and learn from other initiatives working to build more sustainable and efficient cities. Climate Ready shared the La Meva Energia app and the Vulnerability Map.

Some of the conferences at the congress also featured the tools developed by Climate Ready. During the conference “Leveraging Digital Innovation for Housing and Services Access”, Daniela Torres, head of green digital transition at ICLEI Europe, referenced the project. Ramon Canals, coordinator of Pla Clima and the Sustainability Office of Barcelona City Council, also highlighted the tools in the “Geo tools for urban sustainability” session.

The three-day congress hosted 27,000 participants from 143 countries. Topics addressed included sustainable urban innovation, energy and the environment, smart city technology, future mobility, infrastructure and buildings, governance, inclusiveness, and the blue economy.

Other presentations held in autumn

The Climate Ready team has presented the application La meva energia and the vulnerability map in other events during the autumn.

In October, the La meva Energia app and its use as a tool for Energy Advice Points (PAEs) was presented at the One Stop Shop (OSS) roundtable of the Positive Energy Buildings course. The course is organised by the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN), the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Leitat Technology Centre, Eurecat Technology Centre, CIMNE, and the Catalonia Energy Efficiency Cluster (CEEC).

On 20 November, the Chair of Energy Transition at the Polytechnic University of Valencia invited several members of the project to its “Building the Sustainable City: Technology and Social Innovation” conference. Technological and Social Innovation’. Both the vulnerability map and La meva Energia were presented, with the latter being presented at the roundtable discussion ‘Citizen Participation in the Energy Transition’.

On the same day, the map was presented at the ‘Barcelona Academy for Mediterranean Municipalities 2025 event. Towards Holistic Urban Resilience: Strengthening the Mediterranean Against Climate Change’, which was organised by MedCités.

Finally, for a broader audience, the project was presented at the roundtable discussion ‘Daughters of the Climate Emergency’, organised by the AFIN group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

These presentations have put the spotlight on the tools that have been developed over the last two years to help citizens and administrations prepare for and adapt to the effects of climate change and the resulting energy crisis.
